"I've come here and I know that Jamie Carragher was a really important player for this football club.
"He's retired now and Liverpool have looked for somebody to replace him and I'm the one.
"It's a big honour first of all to be chosen to replace Jamie Carragher because Jamie Carragher was a fantastic player for this football club.
"He was a great leader. It will not be easy for me to do, but I will do my best."
